The Pakistan Supreme Court on Tuesday disqualified the prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani since he's convict in contempt. The court asked the President Asif Ali Zardari to appoint a new prime minister. Headed by Chief Justice Iftikar Chowdhary, the three bench judge gave this verdict acting on the petitions that challenged the decision of National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza.
The court gave directions to the election commission to issue a notification that Gilani was not a member of the parliament.
