High Court was not pleased with the way Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board was treating the defaulting organizations when it came to recovering dues. It immediately issued a contempt notice to the state government forcing it to cut the water connections to all those who failed to pay the dues.
On March 18th, government was blamed for not implementing the orders of the high court. HMWS&SB managing director said that the water board has already enforced cuts to the police stations to the city, and police quarters too. Group housing schemes like the Rajiv Gruha Kalpa, under the maintenance of the AP Housing Board have also been affected.
Soon after the connections were cut, the defaulters turned up to pay the dues. Government hostels and hospitals were not treated so severely though. The matters are still being pursued though. Apart from the mentioned departments, panchayat raj department, municipal circles in the GHMC, Roads and Building, education and agriculture department are yet to pay dues that accrued to a sum of Rs 167 Cr.
