Jagan case: Hearing on narco analysis deferred

The CBI Court has deferred the hearing on narco analysis petition by CBI to July 16. It may be noted that CBI filed a petition with the court stating that they be given permission for conducting narco analysis tests on the prime accused in the illegal assets case, Jaganmohan Reddy. The CBI has filed this petition on June 11. The advocates of Jaganmohan Reddy raised objects over this plea and argued that narco analysis would amount to contempt of court as the Supreme Court of India held that narco analysis tests should be conducted only if an individual accepts to it. However, such recordings would not be treated as evidences unless accompanied by a substantial evidence, held the court.  Otherwise, narco analysis would be only help the investigation officers to get more clues.

The CBI court asked counsels of Jaganmohan Reddy to file a counter petition. Jagan's advocates filed the petition on June 14. The court then deferred the hearing to June 19 and then to June 21. The hearing was further deferred to July 4 and today the court after hearing the arguments postponed its hearing to July 16.
