In her earnest appeal to support her desire to project the missile man as the next Presidential Candidate, Didi summons Amma, but invain. The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee made an appesl to her Tamil Nadu Counter part Ms J Jayalalithaa to support former President Abdul Kalaam for the second term, late sunday night in a telecon. The Tamil Nadu CM seems to have smoothly pushed aside the request and inturn requested the Benagal Iron Lady to support former Lok Sabha speaker and NCP leaderP A Sangma, as per sources.
With Congress led UPA deciding to field the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee as teh Presidential Candidate, the NDA led BJP is still undecided. Earlier Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav agreed with the West Bengal CM's proposal of supporting the missile man for the second term. But later backed out and supported the UPA candidate after an appeal from the UPA. In the mean time the Tamil Nadu CM instead of supporting the local candidate had opted for Mr Sangma for the prestegeous post. The political tussle for settling at teh Rashtrapathi Bhavan is virtually on and the ultimate winner might be the UPA man as of now as there is a majority consensus backing him. But anything could happen when the Iron lady is in the driving seat feel critics.
On one side Ms Mamta is going all out to woo support for the Scientist and has also harnessed the social netwroking site. In her latest bid Didi has embarked on the facebook for promoting her proposal. On the other hand Mr Sangma has the backing of Odisha Chief Minister and BJD leader Naveen Patnaik. He seems to be in the fray despite his party leadership's stern warning. (With inputs from internet-AarKay)
