Another VIP from Indian detained at US airport

After Sharukh Khan, it’s another Indian VIP who was being singled out at John F Kennedy Airport in New York. The woman, who is the wife of an ex minister, Usha Krishna Kumar was stopped at the airport by the customs’ officials and said she was detained. She was shifted a room and was questioned there for a couple of minutes. They officials have questioned as to what her purpose to the United States was.

Usha Krishnakumar who flew to US to take part in nurses’ day celebration in Philadelphia elucidated the same to the officials. Even Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbet was scheduled to attend that event. After two-and-half hours of questioning, Usha Krishnakumar was released.

It may be noted that Usha Krishnakumar is the president of Indian Nurses Welfare Association. She was the recipient of Pennsylvania Freedom Award . Reacting on the incident, Usha said she had come down to USA n number of times since 1989 and it was the first time that she was questioned at the airport.   (Phani)
