Each AHTU has the composition of seven staff members which includes one Inspector, two Sub-Inspectors, Two Head Constables and Two Constables. States/UTs have been requested to include women police officers in AHTUs.
Minister of State of Home Affairs Jitendra Singh, said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that as far as human trafficking is concerned, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has released a sum of Rs. 8.72 crores for establishment of 115 Anti Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) under its comprehensive scheme during 2010-11. 104 units have already been established. Rs. 8.338 crores have been released in 2011-12 for establishment of 110 more Anti Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs). Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has issued an Advisory dated 4th September, 2009 wherein States have been advised to increase the overall representation of women in Police Forces at all levels so that they constitute about 33% of the police.
