The most condemnable act in country has once again spread its ugly wings on the society. In Meerut district, a sister was shot dead by a brother for eloping with her lover. The girl was in love with a youth in her village and ran away with him on January first. But later was convinced to come back and the very next day only to be shot dead by her brother. The girl Kausar (21) was shot dead by her brother Shaukeen on Tuesday night say police sources.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and a search is on to arrest the absconding brother and other family members, he said. A case of murder has also been registered, said DIG Prem Prakash.

Another incident occurred on January first when a couple Sarita and Devendra faced similar fate at the hands of the girl’s family, after they set into wedlock. In the attempt the boy died on the spot and the girl is critical at the hospital.
