Even as the 73-year old Gandhian Anna Hazare had shown signs of weakness on 9th day of his indefinite fast at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, the all party meeting convened by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today to end the stand off on the proposed Jan Lok Pal Bill failed to reach a consensus.
Notwithstanding the lack of unanimity, the all party meeting appealed to the anti-corruption crusader to give up his fast. But a stubborn Anna refused to abandon his fast saying it would continue till his demands are met.
Meanwhile, a copy of the Jan Lok Pal Bill presented by Team Anna was circulated among the representatives of the political parties who attended the meeting at 7, Race Course Road - the official residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Earlier in the day, a meeting between government and Team Anna failed to reach a consensus and Anna’s close aid Mr Arvind Kejriwal told journalists that talks would continue.
