Swamy seeks Guv nod to prosecute Karuna

Undaunted by the legal notices sent to him by the Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi for making swamyallegations against him in the 2G Spectrum scandal, Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today met the state Governor Surjit Singh Barnala in Chennai and sought his sanction for prosecuting Karunanidhi citing his involvement in yet another scandal in the state.

Dr Swamy said in his letter submitted to the governor that the chief minister had violated rules under sections 11 and 13 of the Prevention and Corruption Act while allotting land of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board to some people. “He must be prosecuted for this and before that he must be asked to resign,” he requested the governor.

Earlier, Swamy linked the name of Karunanidhi to the 2G Spectrum scandal provoking the latter to send legal notices to him.

Dr Swamy told journalists later that he had enough evidence to prove his allegations against the Chief Minister and said he was not in the habit of making baseless allegations. “After acquiring enough proof only, I will make charges against any one,” he said.

Dr Swamy said he had submitted to the governor the list of people who were benefitted by the violation of rules by Karunanidhi but refused to share the details with the media. “But the list includes civil servants, judges and police officials,” he said not willing to disclose other details.
