Cong prays US Court to dismiss anti-Sikh riots case

Following the arguments of counsels of Congress party in India, the US Court will decide on June 27 whether or not to dismiss the proceedings in anti-Sikh riots case in 1984. It may be recalled that the case was filed by Sikhs for Justice, a community organization, in the United States of America.

The counsels of the Congress party told the court that the case took place before 25 years and the statutes have been expired. They even stated that the incident took place in November 1984 while the complainants filed the case in March 2011. So, they asked the court to dismiss the proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Congress party treasurer Motilal Vora gave an affidavit to the US Court. He asked the court to turn down the complaint by Sikhs for Justice on the ground that no summons did the Congress party receive from New York Litigation in accordance with Heague Service Convention.
