Asian Pacific celebrations on in Boston

The month of May was proclaimed by the Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick to be to be Asian Pacific Heritage Month during a celebration in the State House. Governor Patrick was joined by members of the Governor’s Asian American Commission, elected officials and members of the Asian Pacific American community.

“Asian Pacific Heritage Month recognizes Massachusetts' rich history of diversity," said Governor Patrick. "As we celebrate our differences, it is important that we turn to each other and recognize that these differences make a stronger and more vibrant Commonwealth.”

Speaking on the occasion, lieutenant governor Timothy Murray said: "Throughout the month of May, there are events occurring across the state to celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage Month."

He added, “As we should do throughout the entire year, it is also an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate all of the diverse cultures that make our Commonwealth so great.

It was during the first term of the duo that Governor Patrick created the Asian American Commission charged with keeping the administration appraised of issues and concerns relating to the Asian American community. As of the present updates over 300,000 Asian pacific Americans, reside in the province representing various ethnicities.  (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
