Maharashtra, AP short of Vaccines: Urge Centre for additional doses:- The Indian states Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh have been facing scarcity in the coronavirus vaccine doses and informed the Centre about the same. They urged the Centre to release the additional doses of coronavirus vaccine or else the vaccination drive will take a speed breaker. As per the reports coming from the Maharashtra government, the state has a stock of 14 lakh vaccines available and they would last for three days. Andhra Pradesh has a stock of 3.7 lakh vaccine doses and they would be zero by the end of Thursday. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed the same to the media and he said that he requested Harsh Vardhan, the Union Health Minister to supply 40 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccines per week.

He said that the state is vaccinating 4.5 lakh people per day and if it is to be increased to 6 lakhs per day, the Centre has to meet their demands. "People are returning back home due to the lack of doses. We are not accusing the Centre. The only solution for coronavirus pandemic is to increase the immunity and generate antibodies. For this the number of people getting vaccination per day should be increased. The demand for Covaxin has gone up and we are left with no option except requesting the Centre to supply more doses of Covaxin." told Rajesh Tope. The Health officials of Andhra Pradesh too requested the Centre to send the vaccine doses as their stock will exhaust by tomorrow.
