19 Dead After A Flyover Collapses In Varanasi:- In a shocking accident, atleast 19 people have been killed and over 12 have been badly injured after two concrete beams fell off from a height of 40 feet from an under construction flyover in Varanasi. The incident took place last evening across the busy service lane in the city at 5.30 PM between Cantonment railway station and Lahartara rail over-bridge. Nine vehicles got crushed in this tragic accident.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) comprising 350 personnel, Army Medical Corps and cops reached the spot and the rescue operations are on. It took over four hours to extricate the bodies. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the spot and enquired about the situation. Five officials have been suspended who have been responsible for the accident. Adityanath even visited victims in Kabir Chaura hospital in Varanasi. UP Government announced Rs 5 lakh each for the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh for critically injured.
