The United State President Barack Obama will land in Delhi on Sunday night along with the US first lady Michelle Obama. While Mr. Obama will be having a hectic schedule, Michelle Obama's presence is going to be a good fortune for the weaving community. Well, the reason, the Union Textile ministry has ordered 100 Banarasi saris to be gifted to the US first lady.
As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi special request, the weaving community of the temple town of Varanasi was asked to pack 100 saris which will be sent to Delhi. From traditional silks to contemporary weaves, 100 different saris were handpicked by the weaving community and each sari would cost around Rs 50,000 and above.
PM Modi learnt that Michelle Obama likes Indian silk and accordingly he ordered 100 saris. Whether Barack Obama will be having a memorable tour or not, Michelle would certainly cherish this Indian tour.
