GHMC Issues Orders Banning Excavation Of Cellars In Hyderabad:- For the next three months of monsoon, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued orders on banning excavation of cellars in the city.
In March early this year, two workers died and two others were injured, where a cellar was being constructed in Kondapur. Given this, on Sunday the town planning section was directed by the GHMC on not to permit any cellar excavation works this season.
Additionally, the Assistant City Planners and other officials have also been directed to visit all the sites, where cellars have been permitted earlier to ensure safety of the workers and neighbouring structures.
In case, if the cellar works were in starting stage, the officials have been instructed to stop the works immediately. At sites, where the works have already been taken up, the officials were directed to check and ensure that soil strengthening and structural stability of retaining walls as per the standards.
Further, the officials were directed to instruct dilapidated structures and issue notices to owners. Besides pasting caution notices on the structures, they have been directed to initiate measures to vacate occupants living in dilapidated structures.
This special drive is to continue till the end of monsoon and officials have been warned of serious action in case of any complacency or negligence in implementing the orders.
