IPL 6 people's expectations

IPL 5 has been a blunder of sorts with the several controversies that had besieged the reputation of the game. What was intended to be quick entertainment for the audience and a test of stress for the players turned into a muck of politics, corruption, match-fixing, scandals at the after-parties and innumerable other things.

There are few ways the season 6 of the IPL can regain the popularity and the viewership of the first few installments of the game. After a small survey of people they have expressed that the IPL 6 could do away with a few things to be as attractive as the earlier iterations and we have made a small list of it.

1.   Aloofness from politics: Sport is sport and politics are nowhere concerned with these games. IPL is better off without politics. Let the sport be a sport and not a money minting machine.

2.    Controversies with after-parties: After the games, there are several after parties that would relax the players but there have been several scandals involved in these after-parties recently. Several players have been named to be involved in unacceptable behavior at these parties tainting the sportsmanship of the games. We don't want to hear about drug abuse, chronic alcoholism, or some similar illicit activity; just fun.

3.    Cheerleaders: We appreciate that India want's to Indianize the appearance and make it less provocative but the concept is not Indian in the first place. Either let it be western or IPL 6 can do better off without the Indian garment donning version of the mini-dances. Not only does it hurt the sentiments of the classical dancers but it also enervates the concept.

4.    Strategic breaks: Really? Are the teams so unprepared for the variable outcomes of the game? No, this is nothing but an abhorrent way of minting money for the IPL when it can telecast more and more advertisements. One break is more than sufficient and adding another one will only hamper the pace and the entertainment in the game.

5.    Match-fixing: Highly unacceptable. If you are charging the audience for tickets, premium for the special boxes, provide unadulterated games without trying to influence the games for money.

6.    Tough matches: matches that are nerve wracking until the very last ball are what we want to see and not those matches where a team can score well beyond 200 while the other is dismissed for a score shy of 150.
