US “Looks Forward” To Work With Ram Nath Kovind:- Congratulatory messages have been poured in for the newly elected President, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind. And one such country that has congratulated Kovind on his electoral victory is the United States.

US said that, it “looks forward” to work with him on regional and global issues. On Thursday, Kovind, was elected as India’s 14th President, the first BJP member and the second Dalit to occupy the country’s highest office. He is a low-key lawyer-turned-politician.

State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert told reporters on Thursday, “We want to congratulate the President-elect Ram Nath Kovind on his victory.”

She further noted that “the US and India have a deep and growing strategic partnership.” Nauert said: “We look forward to working with president-elect on regional and global issues.”

“That partnership is obviously underpinned by our very close people-to-people contact with the Indian government and our shared democratic values,” Nauert said in response to a question.

Kovind, a former Bihar Governor, to defeat the joint opposition candidate Meira Kumar, secured 2,930 votes with a value of 7,02,044. While, Meira Kumar, a former Lok Sabha speaker, had 1,844 votes with a value of 3,67,314.
