YS Jagan Writes Letter To Prez Kovind:- Leader of the opposition in Andhra Pradesh and YSR Congress party chief, YS Jagan wrote a five-page letter to the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. The letter states about the  defections of leaders from his party to the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

The upcoming state assembly and council proceedings from 10 November will not be attended by the YSRCP, till his party’s demands with regard to the defections are met, wrote YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in his letter. He further called the AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu a “mastermind”.

“As many as 21 MLAs elected on our party tickets in 2014 elections and an MLC were lured into defections to ruling TDP either by offer of ministerial berths or by paying huge cash. This has been happening in the full glare of the media,” said Reddy in his letter.

In spite of more than a year-and-a-half having passed, no action has been taken to disqualify the defected members of the legislative assembly (MLAs), in spite of filing petitions with the speaker and chairman of the assembly.

“It is shocking that these defected MLAs, whose names are still shown in the list of YSRCP MLAs are not only allotted seats in the assembly along with the ruling party MLAs, but also given time to speak in the house without permission from the Party to which they belong!,” Reddy wrote.

Despite the party officially communicating that they were removed from those positions following their defection to TDP, a bulletin issued by the AP assembly on 1 October showed MLAs Jyothula Nehru and U. Kalpana as deputy leaders of YSR Congress, claimed Mr. YS Jagan.

Naidu does not want the opposition to highlight his government’s failures and corruption, alleged the YSR Congress Chief. “He ensures that the opposition does not get a chance at all to speak on any important issue in the assembly. The legislative assembly proceedings are being conducted in an absolutely undemocratic manner,” he wrote.

A six-month long ‘Padayatra’ will be undertaken by Jagan from November 6 onwards. He would be covering about 3,000 kilometres, touring 125 constituencies (out of 175) to conduct public meetings, on foot.
