Digital Platforms will have Censorship in India under Government Regulation:- Indian films undergo censor scrutiny in layers to prevent unnecessary controversies and to prevent obscene and vulgar content. Several filmmakers had a tiff with the censor board after some of the most important content was chopped off. Luckily, the digital content that is streamed across the digital platforms had no such scrutiny. Several PILs are filed in various Indian courts and the Supreme Court recently questioned the Information and Broadcasting Ministry along with the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). Notices are issued to them to reply about the vulgar content that is objectionable to watch by a set of Indians.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind signed an order about the censorship of the digital content and it would be regulated, monitored by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. All the web series along with web-based movies and web portals will be monitored by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The new set of regulations are yet to be announced in detail by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry soon. As of now, the filmmakers who are busy with digital projects will face the heat from the new set of censorship rules soon. The traffic for digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney Plus Hotstar, Zee5, Sun Nxt, Voot and others got increased after the arrival of coronavirus.
