Around 3.26 kg of gold was seized by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Friday.
According to the officials, their was a specific intelligence report after which the officers of DRI Hyderabad Zonal unit were alerted.
DRI stopped a suspected passenger and a ground handling staff. After checking their baggage officials recovered 28 gold bars weighing 3.26 kg from them. The gold bars worth Rs 97 lakh.
The arrested passenger had arrived from Dubai . He was handing the gold over to the ground handling staff for taking it out of the airport. Officials have launched an investigation on this matter and the arrested were sent to judicial custody.
