Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the new airport at Kadapa on Sunday.
Airport is expected to promote the regional and remote area connectivity in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The airport has been constructed with an investment of Rs. 42 crores by Airports Authority of India.
AP has provided 520 acres of land to facilitate the development of the airport.
The 1,719 metre-long and 45 metre wide runway at the airport can at present handle an ATR-72 type of aircraft while the new apron can accommodate up to three such aircrafts at a time.
It supports the economic growth of the city along with increase in employment opportunities.
On the opening day, an Air Pegasus flight from Bengaluru, landed at 11.30 a.m, which was the first one to land in the airport.
