Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrated with much pomp

Today being Sri Krishna Janmashtami, a large number of devotees thronged temples across Andhra Pradesh especially at ISKCON temples in Hyderabad. While most of Hindus-who follow Advaita school of philosophy- look upon Lord Krishna as one of the avatars of Lord Vishnu, a few others  apparently who follow Dvaitadveta (which is based upon earlier vedanta school Bhedabeda) look upon God as Krishna alone.  For people who follow both schools, Sri Krishna Janmashtami is a big festival although the type of celebration may vary. It was apparently told that ISKCON follows the earlier vedanta school Bedabeda.

Meanwhile, arrangements are going on in full swing by several associations for celebrating utti utsavam (the breaking of pots filled with butter). The legend has it that Lord Sri Krishna, in his childhood, used to break butter pots in others' home to eat and distribute the butter among his friends. To commemorate the same, the devotees of a particular community try to break the butter pot.
