Teej festival is being grandly celebrated by lambadi communities across the country especially in Andhra Pradesh. Starting from Rakshanbandhan to Janmashtami, Teej would be celebrated wherein young unmarried women offer prayers to Goddess Durga everyday with specially cooked dishes to get a good bride. In several parts of areas of the state such as Achchampeta and Dindi, a large number of women had worship the wheat saplings. Traditional dances were also being held in praise of local deities.
The week long festival, Teej is something special for those from Lambada community. And this festival would not only celebrated with joy, but with lots of devotion. Although Teej is the main festival in Haryana, the tradition slowly spread to all areas and today all lambada communities celebrate this festival.
