Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar accepted the resignation of Nellore Congress MP Mekapati Rajamohan reddy today.

Before accepting the resignation, Meira Kumar spoke to him on telephone and inquired whether he was still committed to his decision of resignation. Rajamohan Reddy told her he has not changed his mind and stood by his decision to quit the Lok Sabha.

Rajamohan Reddy announced his loyalty to the YSR Congress party led by YS Jaganmohan reddy though he remained a congress member officially. He became a key member in the Jagan establishment and has been advising Jagan on all policy matters of the party.

He submitted his resignation to the Speaker protesting against the mention of the late YSR name in the FIR filed against Jagan in the illegal properties case. (J)
