Inflicting a body blow to the YSR Congress party president Mr YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the Supreme Court today rejected his two special leave petitions (SLPs) that sought a stay on the AP High Court orders on CBI investigation against his alleged illegal wealth.
India’s top legal luminaries Mr Ram Jethmalani and Mr Mukul Rohtagi argued for Jagan and sought suspension of the high court orders that facilitated a full-fledged CBI investigation into the allegations that he accumulated illegal wealth during his father YSR’s regime.
“The CBI investigation must be suspended immediately as its preliminary inquiry report was not given to our client. The investigation is a political conspiracy so it must be stopped,” the lawyers argued forcibly.
“There is no logic in your argument that the preliminary inquiry report was not given to your client. The basis for a full probe was not the inquiry report so there is no need to interfere with the orders of the high court,” said the Division Bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari.
