RTC to get 4000 new buses soon

RTC Managing Director Prasad Rao said his organization is shortly acquiring 4000 new buses and they would be allotted to all major depots in the state.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a private programme in Tenali, he said the state government has agreed to allot Rs.200 Cr in the budget for acquiring the new buses.

Prasad Rao said there are 6000 to 8000 old buses in the state at present and 3500 buses out of them are totally damaged. “We are acquiring the new buses to meet the demands of RTC commuters across the state,” he said.

Observing that RTC has been regularly trying to improve the facilities at depots and also in the buses, he disclosed that passenger information system is being introduced in 12,000 buses to help passengers know about the arrival timings of destinations and details of the stops. (JUBS)
