Locals found a dead body of an unidentified person in a lake near Gattuvaipalli village in Renigunta Mandalam of Chittor district this morning.

The dead body, found in the waters of the Govindamma lake, is said to be that of Bhanu Kiran, the alleged killer of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, according to rumours doing the rounds. Police however dismissed those reports.

Police have rushed to the spot and are trying to identify the body. The body was sent for postmortem at SV medical college in Tirupathi. (JUBS)
