Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), led by Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) took a different stands on Andhra `settlers’ in the Telangana region, and termed them as betrayers. It may be noted earlier he mentioned that the settlers were a part of the T-Culture. He was addressing the two year old indefinite relay hunger protests at Nizamabad district, Bhodhana, on Wednesday. The struggle to create a separate Telangana state with Hyderabad as its capital, from the unified Andhra Pradesh is the main objective of the protestors. He said the settlers voted in favor of the Congress candidate in the Banswada By-elections, only to show their betrayal.
TRS candidate Pocharam Srinivas Reddy had won the Banswada by-election with a whopping majority of 49,889 votes. Of 1,22,872 votes polled on October 13, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy secured 83,245 votes. His nearest rival, Congress candidate polled 33,356 votes. Four other candidates could not even secure their deposits. But still the TRS high command felt that the margins were not up to their expectations, in spite of the Telangana sentiment riding high. KCR urged the `settlers’ to respect and follow the traditions of the region where they lived and mingle among the locals. They should actively participate in the separatist stir.
On account of achieving 731 days milestones the T-Joint Action Committee organized large scale celebrations in the Bhodhan. 731 women participated on Wednesday hunger strike. KCR assured them that he would carry on his mission even if his head is severed.
He also slammed the Andhra educational institutes in the T-Region for employing teachers from Andhra region. Once in power he said, TRS would pass a resolution that 90 per cent job guarantee must be given to locals.
