From Student leader and MLA to Chief Whip, Legislative Assembly Speaker to Chief Minister, his was a steady journey of success. It was a road filled with bouquets and brick bats.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy successfully completed his one year in office. Should we call its patience that has paid off or the silence that has distanced him from the Congress cadre? Is it the welfare schemes that has marked his journey or the non- conducting of a full-fledged assembly during his tenure marred his prospects. Does the Congress feel him as a Messiah to deliver success in the 2014 final battle or do they feel his contemporaries better. Was his cool attitude in getting back the Jagan MLA’s, a bouquet or was his tryst with leaders within, a brickbat? Much is debated across the media and the political circles over the issues pondering around the CM.
Though the era that dawned over the state, the last one year, need not be termed as the blooming era but equivalently need not be termed as the glooming one either. Because the CM’s era, had its one own pitfalls and the advantages too, well balanced. On the whole the fact must not be forgotten when the state was reeling under pressures from the separatist forces he took over the reins and handled deftly the state, to steer the chaotic situation towards a prospective one. Though turbulence still prevails, the intensity is not much felt by the common man.
His key strategies that has voted in his favour were the `Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu’, in which he stated that 1.6 lakh government posts to be filled by 2014. A scheme well admired by the youth of the state. The youth who were unduly exploited by seasoned politicians, have turned their vistas towards garnering these posts.
The `Rachabanda’ initiative is welcomed by the public, which could be observed by the large gatherings at each venue of the program. His boldness to address the Telangana districts with the sops, at a time when the leaders kept away from the region, fearing protests need to be commended.
One rupee per Kilo rice is another populist scheme which had been admired by the large public which was living below the poverty line. But there were ofcourse minor rumblings over the reduction of sugar and kerosene.
The Mee Seva to cover the Citizen Charter service, the one stop shop for all Citizen Service was also a welcome initiative. These were his attempts to eradicate corruption at the grassroots level by launching the option for the issuance of certificates in a timely manner.
The Sthreenidhi gained popularity with the 0.25 ps interest loans to the rural women and plans to issue the same to the urban women through SHG groups was also a positive initiative.
Another most vital point is the way he handled the Sakala Janula Samme, he went around and triggered progress in the other regions, which proved the public that the Samme was the cause for the major hurdle on the path towards progress. Slowly it waded away and became history.
The last not the least the ploy he played in garnering back the Congress MLAs, who had deserted to the Jagan camp is the Kohinoor in his crown.
Well now let us analyze the pitfalls, the desertion at the administrative level is much visible with the senior officers, who are all accustomed to a certain way of handling issues feel insecure with the frequent news on CBI indulgence.
The message of confidence yet to be instilled in the cadre, is lacking due to proper public relations (PR) activity not in place. This is much understandable since the young CM needs to muster the politics much, to reach the scale of endorsing perfect PR activity.
The sops have translated into the tax burden to the common man, which is much ridiculed by the public, who form the little upper echelon of the society.
Crime rate increase, Power crisis have had their heavy impact on his characteristic charisma. And the failure of the popular Arogyasri and 108 services add to his list of impending problems, a major setback to his governance.
But his failure to cash on the vote bank at the Chittoor MLC elections when his own candidate lost, was a night mare to our dear CM. The worst in the list which gave a winning advantage to his formidable opponent Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, was the Congress loss in the Cuddapah By-election, inspite of utilization of government machinery and senior leaders stationed at the place for several days. This is the major setback in which the importance of win was visibly desperate with the unwanted hype created by the ruling party. They lost the seat and the face value too in this combat.
Well an indepth analysis by the Wishesh team only leaves you, the sole voter, to decide what you feel about the current Chief Minister. Kudos for the man, much younger than his contemporaries, and wish him all the best for a better state. The wishes also conclude with a small urge to suggest that the sops are fine but the uncommon burden to the common man need to be dealt on priority Sir.
