All-party meeting on Dec 28 to assuage Congress MPs

It is clear that the move has been made after seven Congress MPs have threatened the government that they would not vote for the FDI until and unless the party makes a decision. The MPs were impatient over the issue with the party and even pressurized the government that they would walkout from the voting of FDI in Lok Sabha which concluded yesterday.

With an all party meeting convened, the seven MPs seemed to be placated as they willingly voted for the government. This is the second time, only after P Chidambaram had called for a similar meeting in Jan 2011, an all party meeting was convened. However, unlike the last time when each party had two representatives, the MPs demanded that only a single representative of a party should be present from each party for making the decision.

Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivekanad, Madhu Yaskhi Goud, S Rajaiah, M Jagannath, Rajgopal Reddy and G Sukhender Reddy seemed to be positively happy with the immediate action as promised by the Home Minister. Shinde obviously felt threatened with their act of no-show for a floor coordination meeting of Congress on Tuesday.

The final straw in the hat was when the MPs talked to TRS leader K Chandrashekhar Reddy forcing Shinde to take immediate action for their demands that an all party meeting with a single member to represent each party.
