CPI 'Dharna' on Jan 19, demanding T state

Communist Party of India proposes a dharna demanding the Telangana state carved out of the unified Andhra Pradesh state. The secretary Narayana invited all parties to join hands at Hyderabad at Indira Park to uni-vocally, demand for the separate state. Most parties supporting the demand other than the Congress and BJP are supposed to participate in this massive event.

After the Congress announcement during the all-party-meet held in December, the Union Home Minister Susheel Kumar Shinde announced that an appropriate decision on the sensitive issue would be announced on January 28. However the aftermath developments put the pro-Telangana leaders on the precipice.

As per rumors, the unified state aspiring leaders had sent a letter to Ms Sonia Gandhi substantiating their demand. In this they have mentioned that if Telangana was formed it would become a home ground for communal agitations and Maoist culture. However the pro-activists have down scored this issue and felt that the Seemandhra leaders were trying to foil their dreams.

In this context, to influence the decision, left parties joined by many other parties propose to demonstrate the strengths of the T aspirants through this dharna. (Wishesh AarKay)
