Thackeray ridicules PM on FDI

Bal Thackeray took a dig at the PM Manmohan Singh on the issue of the Foreign Direct Investment through the editorial column of his party magazine, Saamna. The Shiv Sena leader said that if his decisions could not have convinced the former allies of the party like Mamatha Banarjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, he has the least chance to turn the people towards himself.

He ridiculed the PM saying that his broadcast on Doordarshan on September 21 was the most laughable, and never heard of speech. He also contended that the FDI in multibrand detail was a move that had angered the retail traders in the nation.

Talking on the issue of the hike in the diesel prices he said that the poor people who rely on diesel for their daily commutes were hit hard. PM had to face more jeering from the leader who said that it was unwise of him to ask people to “strengthen his hands” on such a poor cause.

Speaking against his statement that “money doesn't grow on trees” the leader of Shiv Sena questioned the government how they secured money for useless concessions that were made to the Muslim minority, and the government's spending on food security, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

He added that the people definitely have strong hands capable of dethroning Congress from power if they continue to be inefficient. "We cannot say if the prime minister's hands are strong. But the people of the country are strong, and will definitely drag the Congress out of power," Thackeray predicted.
