A man had killed his neighbor after he mistook him for a bear. The man was searching for the missing gaur while spotting bear track suspecting foul play by the bear.

The incident took place near Mizoram-Myanmar border in the Farkawn village near Mizoram.

Lalpeksanga and his neighbour Ralthanga were searching for a missing gaur at the Lurh mountain on Saturday.

After spotting the bear track, Lalpeksanga had aimed at the animal to shoot it but it turned out to be Ralthanga under the crosshairs. He was accidentally was shot dead.

Lalpeksanga was detained for questioning, the sources said.
