Kamala Beniwal, Governor of Mizoram was sacked on Wednesday night following the orders from Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Kamala was the former Governor of Gujarat state when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief minister. She had differences with Modi government in appointing Lokayukta and She was also accused of delaying legislation passed in the state assembly.

Governor of Manipur VK Duggal has been asked to discharge the functions of the Governor of Mizoram until a new governor is announced by the Union government. Congress party and other political parties have slammed BJP government for removing Kamala. Congress has claimed that this move is against Supreme Court orders and Constitution of India.
