9 days into the hunger strike, the anti-corruption crusader and his team had announced that they would stop the fast today on Friday. The end to the meagerly followed fasting agitation came after the team had made a decision to give the people a political alternative.

The government was unmoved by the agitation and the chances for the agitation to go further to the Ramlila Maidan had gradually gone down as the union ministers had urged and appealed to Anna Hazare to call off the silent protest. Union Minister Kapil Sibal said that he was happy after the team members decided to put an end to the fast and that the agitation was serious pressure strategy that was effective against them.

Questions regarding the purpose of the 9 day strike have already sprung out. Is the fast a strategic mistake? Is the decision of ending it merely to slip away and cover that mistake?

Regardless of whatever has happened, Team Anna has no choice but to choose the political alternative that they have announced to continue to fight against corruption. However it is not sure if launching a political party is the alternative they bear in mind.

Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan said that since the problems was with the way the politics were operating in the country, the only way to solve it would be to launch an parallel form of politics to  counter it.
