Data Theft at IIM- A computer networks and servers

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad campus has lodged a complaint with the police that there was theft of data from the servers and computer networks by unauthorised personnel.

DCP of police, Crime Branch said that they had received an application from the Vigilance officer of IIM-A regarding this issue. The vigilance officer has also told that they have ben receiving a few emails which warned them of data loss from the servers by unauthorised people.

Three IP (Internet Protocol) adresses have been traced as the source of the emails and police have requested more details regarding the issue from IIM-A authorities.

No further information was revealed by the DCP saying that they just began their investigation and enquiries. They also have not registered any offence. “So it will be premature to share anything further." he said.

He also refused answer if IIM-A officials had a suspicion on anyone inside the institute who could have possibly attempted to do it.  He only said that it would be too early to pinpoint some one without complete details at this stage.
