Sexual violence is a nightmare that haunts a woman for the rest of her life. When it is faced, it would be sudden and take them by surprise. There hardly be any time left to call for help or to alert police. A group of young automobile engineers came up with a solution to this problem. They designed lingerie laced with GPS Modules and a communication system that alerts the girl’s parents and police. The lingerie also senses pressure and hits back shock waves of 3800 kv. They appropriately called it Society Harnessing Equipment (SHE). The design already won Gandhian Young Technology Award 2013 from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.

The product of course has to be perfected for mass production. They are contacting National Institute of Fashion Technology for a suitable fabric for merging the technology with it as it has to be washable.

Apart from signaling the girl’s parents on a predefined number and also police on 100, the lingerie sensing pressure gives a shock that the person wants to commit the crime will never forget it in his life- promises the young designers of SHE.  The shock waves can hit the rapist up to 82 times.

Time will test how effective the product is but idea is good and the attempt of those techies show the impact Delhi gang rape left on every one in the Country.

Only flaw in the theory is, it can curtail only sexual harassment but not abduction followed by threatening the girl and demanding her to remove the lingerie. It also cannot protect from acid or other attacks.

But an attempt is made to reduce the violence which is important enough and the existence of such product discourages a rapist.
