BJP leader L K Advani has penned down a letter to the prime minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to make changes to the present system of appointing the chief election commissioner and the  comptroller and auditor general. Further, L K Advani has expressed his dissatisfaction to the present mode of appointment.

Advani has proposed collegiums system for appointing the chief election commissioner and comptroller and auditor general. It is known that the present chief election commissioner is retiring this month whereas comptroller and auditor general will retire next month.

The prime minister Manmohan Singh is yet to make any statement on this. Sources said that the prime minister would apparently turn down the request of the opposition.         (Phani)
