In a move to bring relief to the middle class people who commute by their economy vehicles, Delhi Government reduced Value Added Tax P(VAT) on petrol. So, the petrol prices in Delhi are going to come down by Rs. 1.26. Nonetheless, CNG is going to become costlier.
In a press conference held on Monday, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit has said that they (government) reduced VAT to bring down petrol prices.
After Goa, Uttarakhand and Kerala, Delhi becomes the fourth state to cut taxes on petrol making the essential fuel for motor vehicles much cheaper compared to other cities in the country.
The people in the other parts of the country reportedly hailed the decision of the Delhi Government. They posted to their social networking websites that other states too should cut the extra taxes on petrol to make it cheaper.
We have to wait and watch to know whether any other state would follow the footsteps of Delhi Government and cut taxes on petrol. (Phani)
