Mumbai police arrest lady journalist in Dey murder case

In a new twist to the murder of the Mid-Day crime journalist Jyothirmoy Dey in Mumbai in June this year, investigators today arrested a lady journalist for being part of the conspiracy in the murder.

Jigna Vora, special correspondent of the Asian Age, was taken into custody by the special police. Police said she had passed on the information of Dey’s motorcycle number and his address to the killers, members of the Chota Rajan gang.

Members of the Ragan gang shot dead journalist Dey near his home in suburban Powai on June 11, 2011.

Investigators said the lady journalist was part of the conspiracy to eliminate Dey. Vora worked with Mumbai Mirror between 2005 and 2007, and could have possibly met Dey there. Police however didn’t disclose the reasons for the lady journalist being part of the conspiracy.

Police have already arrested ten persons, all members of the Chota Rajan gang in the case. (JUBS)
