Hazare to observe fast at Raj Ghat

Hazare to observe fast at Raj GhatPreparing the ground for a fresh trouble for the government, Gandhian and social activist Anna Hazare declared today he would take up his fast in Delhi on June 8 as planned earlier despite the refusal of police permission for him to take up the one day fast protesting against the forced eviction of Baba Ram Dev and his supporters from the Ramlila Maidan Saturday night.

Hazare, however, announced he would undertake the one day fast at Raj Ghat and not at Jantar Mantar where the Delhi police imposed section 144 preventing get together of people for any purpose.

Hazare follower and social activist Arvind Kejriwal said they would go ahead with the fast and the program would be very peaceful. “What law and order problem will arise by our protest? Police have to explain the reasons for denying permission for our fast at Jantar Mantar,” he asked.

Reminding the police of the Supreme Court order that police should not misuse the section 144 of the Cr PC, Kejriwal said that the 73-year old Anna Hazare has never had a violent history in his life and he was only planning for a peaceful fast.

“If police tries to stop us we will not resist but get arrested,” he said.
