Taliban denies Mullah Omar’s killing

Taliban denies Mullah Omar’s killingXinhua news agency said on Monday quoting Afghanistan’s TOLO television that the one-eyed Taliban leader Mullah Omar was killed in Pakistan. The Taliban sources however denied the news and said he was very much alive.
 
The agency said he was killed when he was on his way to North Wazirustan fro Quetta but the agency did not give any information as to how Omar was killed or by whom.
 
Mullah Omar was Afghanistan’s de facto head of state from 1996 to late 2001 when Talibans ruled the country unofficially.
 
Meanwhile, the US National Terrorism Centre said in Kabul that Mullah Omar’s Taliban regime in Afghanistan had given shelter to Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda network prior to the Sep 11 attacks.
