A judge in the United States of America has denied releasing the photos and videos taken before and after a raid by US commandos in which the Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden was killed.
The Federal Court has held that releasing photos would be compromising to the techniques of Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as well as the military. Further, the court said that the photos were not released in order to avoid violence against American outside the country.
It may be noted that a conservation watchdog group, Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit for the release of photos and videos of Osama Bin Laden under the Freedom of Information Act. The Judge Boasberg wrote: “A picture may be worth a thousand words. And perhaps moving pictures bear an even higher value. Yet, in this case, verbal descriptions of the death and burial of Osama Bin Laden will have to suffice, for this court will not order the release of anything more.”
So, after this judgment, now the people are convinced that they won’t be getting the pictures of the operation. (Phani)
