76-year old congress leader Tarun Gogoi, who successfully led his party to victory for the third consecutive term in Assam elections, was today sworn in as the new chief minister of the state at a simple function at the Raj Bhavan in Gauhati.
Governor J.B. Patnaik administered the oath of office and secrecy to Gogai. This is third time that Gogai took the oath as chief minister of the state.
Gogai later said that other ministers will take the oath in a day or two after the list is approved by party president Sonia Gandhi. He will visit Delhi to seek approval to the list of new ministers from Sonia.
In another event, Congress Legislature Party leader Oommen Chandy was also sworn in today as the 21st Chief Minister of Kerala. Governor R.S. Gavai administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Chandy and six other ministers.
Chandy will head a six party coalition called United Democratic Front which won the recent assembly elections.
