Earlier, Manmohan Singh presided over a meeting of Congress Legislative party in the Assembly that was attended by the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhubaneswar Kalita and some more ministers.
Problem came when the media persons wanted to cover the event were not allowed into the Assembly. They started protesting outside at the gate of the Assembly. Then AICC Secretary Digvijay Singh, PCC president Kalita, Chief Minister Gogoi and some other ministers came out and invited them to come inside the Assembly in an attempt to pacify them. But the media persons refused to go in at that time when the event was over.
When Prime Minister Manmohan Singh came out and started to speak, the media persons started shouting slogans against the Government and the way the media is being crushed.
