Tarun Gogoi orders CBI probe in Assam Violence

Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday has asked for a CBI probe in the BTAD clashes and the clashes in the Dubri district which could have been a result of both external and internal forces.

"I have recommended a CBI probe into the incidents and now it is up to the Centre to take a final decision on instituting it," he said talking to the reporters.
He ordered the probe on the suggestion of his government to find out the involvement of the internal and external forces that could have caused the mayhem.
There were also many migrants from Bangladesh in the relief camps. He had reacted on the illegal migration and shelter being sought by people from other states also by saying that the outsiders are not allowed strictly in the rehabilitation camps.  “Their antecedents would be checked and only genuine Indian citizens will be rehabilitated”, he said.

He also asked that illegal arms be seized. As of today there were over 173 people arrested and preventive arrests were made as the situation demanded.
This tragic incident spread over several days had witnessed 73 deaths.
