Special haircare during monsoon

It's the season of the drizzle and downpours, coffees by the window and pakoras by the street, of romantic music in cars and rain-kissed embraces, of bunking colleges and bike rides.

But then again, monsoon is also the season of extra humidity which can work disasters for hair. Excess humidity is known to decrease the shine of the hair and weaken hair follicles which might lead to increased hair breakage. Also, it is a well known fact that the hair usually attracts more dirt and pollution during monsoons.

Ruchira Sinha, 28, says, "It is very important to take special care of your hair during monsoons. Most people like to get wet in the rain once in a while which is great fun, but even without that the humidity all around is also known to dampen the hair so much so that the hair looks dull. It is important to shampoo your hair more often during monsoon to keep dirt at bay. Oiling the hair with ayurvedic or natural oils can help deal with hairfall by strengthening the roots."

Homemaker Toshima Das Mondol suggests limiting the use of excessive chemical products during the rainy season. "While its best to stick to natural products throughout the yearm it is all the more important to restrict the usage of chemical products during the rainy season, because hair follicles are much more brittle during this time which results in a lot of hairloss. A hot oil massage at night before sleeping can work wonders."

Well, so even as you soak in the monsoon pleasures, do remember to nurture your hair.
