‘Sleev’ for you!

When you aspire every aspect of your dress to be perfect, why not concentrate on the Sleeves of the hands of your dress? Be it a sari, chudidaar or even a western wear, here are some suggestions that can help you to choose and design best suited sleeves of your dresses, according to your body type;

Cap sleeves are those that cover the ball of your shoulders. These are great for expanding the shoulders if you're pear-shaped or if you have delicate shoulders. This style is also helpful in offsetting wide chests since this sleeve's length doesn't add to the width of the chest. This is a great alternative to regular short sleeves giving more definition to your upper arm while still looking feminine.

Princess sleeves or puff sleeves balloon at the top of the arms creating a swell at the shoulders. This can come in any length from short to full sleeves with the shorter version being the easiest to pull off. Puff sleeves can help in broadening the shoulders especially if the balloon effect extends to the sides. This can also help elongate the arms if the puff sleeve balloons upward adding height to the ball of the shoulder.

Banded or cuffed sleeves are those that have equal width at the arms and are banded at the hem. The bands may vary in width and tightness. This is a classic style used for most dress shirts and is considered a masculine-inspired top which contrasts with feminine curves. Cuffed sleeves look very pretty in short lengths that end at the middle of the upper arm or above the elbow.

Bell sleeves or wide sleeves are narrow at the armhole and flared at the hem draping the forearm with the excess material. These sleeves look better in shorter lengths that end at the mid-upper arm or at the elbow, at most. Long bell sleeves can be difficult to wear without looking like a hippie. The excess material can help widen the areas on which they fall such as the chest and waist for short-sleeve and elbow-sleeve tops, respectively.

Angel sleeves or drape sleeves are wide from top to bottom creating billows of fabric between the arms and torso. This sleeve style actually blurs the lines of your torso which can be slimming on apple-shaped women whose upper bodies are bigger than their lower half. The loose fit is very comfortable on full-figured women as well, and the flimsy material subtly flaunts your curves.

Cut-out sleeves are long sleeves with holes at the ball of the shoulders. This is a variation of the loose-fitting sleeves such as drape or dolman sleeve styles with deliberate openings at the shoulders, although it's not be limited to this area. These styles are great for women who want to show off their beautiful shoulders without exposing too much skin.
