India on collision course with Bangladesh

cricketTaking revenge against Bangladesh for kicking them out of the second round of the last world cup and serving a warning to the rivals teams, India today launched their 2011 cricket world cup campaign on a fierce note by posting a whopping 370 runs for the loss of four wickets in their opening Group B match against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National stadium in Dhaka.

Asked to bat by Bangladesh which won the toss, Indian openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag took advantage of the pitch conditions and began an unceremonious assault against Bangladesh. Sehwag, in his merciless attack on the hapless Bangladeshi bowlers, smashed a massive 175 with five sixes and fourteen fours as he faced 140 balls to take India to an impressive 370 for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of 50 overs.

Though Sachin began on an aggressive note like Sehwag, he was run out at 28 and Gautam Gambhir who replaced him was also back into the pavilion for a knock of 39. Then onwards, Sehwag spearheaded the attack together with Virat Kohil who also completed his century to the penultimate ball the innings.
