Mahela’s hurricane ton hurried up SL’s win over Canada

Mahela Jayawardane, Canada, Sri Lanka, Hambantota, fastest hundred, Kulasekhara, Perera, Dilshan, rizwan CheemaStylish Sri Lanka batsman, Mahela Jayawardane hammered the fourth fastest hundred in the World Cup history, to help his side beat Canada by a whopping margin of 210 runs in a match played at Hambantota, on his home soil.

Sri Lanka won the toss and posted a huge total of 332 for the loss of seven wickets. Batsman Mahela Jayawardene  became the third century-maker in the present world cup, after India’s Sehwag and Virat Kohli, with his whirlwind knock of 100 (81 b).

Mahela was ably supported by his captain Kumara Sangakkara (92) who missed the century narrowly.  Tillakaratne Dilshan too played his part in Sri Lanka’s commanding score, with a well made 50.

When Canada batted, it was an entirely a different story as the team got folded up at 122 with out completing the innings’ quota of 50 overs as its humiliation defeat ended in 36.5 overs.

Rizwan Cheema, playing his first World Cup match for Canada, could alone put up somewhat resistance to the Sri Lankan attack by departing for 37 runs.
Kulasekhara and Perera chipped in with 3 wickets apiece to bowl out the Canadians for a paltry score of 122.
